TENS MachineEco/Low Income Hire - $65.00
TENS is reported to be most effective used in the first stage of labour when the contractions begin and are becoming painful. The earlier the TENS is used, the better. This gives your body time to build up natural endorphins. During a contraction use the boost function to interrupt pain signals and blocks some of them from reaching the brain.
The burst mode is to be used between contractions. It feels like a pulsing, tingling sensation with the pulses coming on and off and on periodically. The boost mode is for during contractions. By pressing the easy to access boost button you’ll receive an extra surge of power required to combat pain during contractions. Women who use TENS in labour are less likely to request additional forms of pain relief, and are less likely to report very high levels of pain. TENS won’t stop pain – but it does help women manage the pain they experience. What's included...

The single-use birth pool liner MUST be used at all times. Should you find any issues with the pool or equipment, please contact us ASAP! We will do our best to resolve the problem, but please understand that is not always possible.

The single-use liner is not returned. You, or the person in charge of returning the hired items, then contacts the pool coordinator to arrange the return of the items or collection. Drop off MUST be confirmed by the pool coordinator BEFORE returning the pool. Please do not drop off the items without confirmation first.
- Once the pool is returned, the pool coordinator will inspect the pool and then organise refunding the bond if all items are accounted for and undamaged or contact you should anything be amiss. - The customer agrees to use the disposable liner when using the pool. The pool is NEVER to be used without a liner and is strictly limited to indoor use only.
- The customer takes full responsibility for the way in which the birth pool / TENS machine is used. The pool is to be used only for the purpose of labour and birth; it is not to be used as a paddling pool for children/pets.
- The customer is responsible for inspecting all items in hire pack. If anything is amiss the customer agrees to notify WHBA immediately and no later than 72hrs after receiving, otherwise it will be accepted that the items were received in good condition.
- The customer agrees to familiarise themselves and support people with the birth pool / TENS machine and follow the supplied instructions for use. Failure to follow the instructions can cause significant damage to the pool and/or accessories.
- The customer agrees to pay:
- The hire fee, bond and other costs within 7 days of receiving invoice, unless a prior arrangement has been made with the birth pool coordinator. Failure to do so will result in the booking being cancelled.
- Cancellation fee if booking is cancelled less than 60days prior to booking start date (bond retained)
- Any cost associated with repairing, deep cleaning or replacing of the birth pool / TENS machine and accessories if they are lost, damaged, or rendered unusable for future renters. If the amount exceeds the bond, WHBA will invoice the hirer the balance of the cost (could be up to $1500.00).

Your order may be cancelled at any time before it is picked up or delivered, by emailing the pool coordinator. But please do so at the earliest convenience.
The following cancellation fees apply:
- Cancellations made 30 days or more prior to the booking start date are fully refundable.
- Cancellations less than 30 days before booking start date will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the bond and the remainder of the bone and hire price will be refunded.
- No refund will apply after the birth pool / TENS machine has been picked up or delivered, even if it is not used, the customer changes their mind, or usage is unable to happen. In this instance WHBA can only provide a refund for the disposable birth pool liner or TENS electrodes, provided they have remained sealed in their original packaging.
- Any online payment or credit card processing fees charged are non-refundable.
- Do not use the pool without the provided liner or use / put / clean the pool outside.
- Only use the electric inflator provided and DO NOT over inflate the pool. over-inflation is the most common cause of air leaks as it causes undue stress on the seams and can cause them to split or burst. The water will add increased pressure once it is filled, making the walls of the pool much firmer and sturdier.
- Do not use the pool on scratchy or rough surfaces such as rough concrete floors. Please vacuum or sweep the area and use a thick blanket (or similar) between any rough surface and the pool to avoid punctures.
- Do not use sharp or pointy objects in or around the pool such as: pens, pencils, children’s toys, pointy jewellery and be aware of belt buckles if leaning against the pool.
- For hygiene reasons you must only use the blue or clear food grade hose for filling and the green garden hose for emptying.
- Do not add hot water to an empty pool, add 10cms of cold water first and keep an eye on the temperature of the water. Also don’t rest a hose directly on the pool when adding very hot water. It is best to rest the hose on a folded towel to create a barrier between them.
- To avoid possible weakening of the seams of the pool, do not exceed 39 degrees C, water temperature.
- Do not overfill. Take into consideration water displacement when individuals enter the pool, take care not to overfill the pool (there are lines inside pool to indicate correct level, for one person)
- Empty the pool asap after birth, leaving the pool filled for a long period of time weakens the seams.
- If the liner is used correctly, the pool should remain dry and unsoiled. However, if it has slipped out of placed or been punctured and become wet or soiled, please wipe the pool down with soapy water and dry thoroughly before packing up to prevent bacteria and mildew growth. All pools are cleaned and sanitised by the pool coordinator between hires.
- Do not let children or animals play in / around the pool. Never leave children unattended without adult supervision in the vicinity of the filled birth pool.
- Avoid electric shock and personal injury by keeping all electrical devices, such as lamps and appliances away from the filled birth pool.
- Do not use before 36 weeks.
- Do not use if you have epilepsy, heart disease or a pacemaker.
- Do not use whilst you are in or around water.
- Do not use at the same time as Electronic Fetal Monitoring in case of any interference.
- TENS should not be used in the following areas: abdomen, chest, anywhere on the head or face, across the front or side of the neck, genitals, directly over the spine (each side of the spine is perfectly safe), over broken skin, on desensitised skin, over open wounds, over a malignant tumour.
- Keep out of reach of children.
