2021, May 5th - International Day of the Midwife
The theme for 2021, was follow the data: Invest in midwives. The 2021 State of the World's Midwifery (SoWMy) Report, provides an updated evidence base and detailed analysis on the impact of midwives on maternal and newborn health outcomes and the return on investment in midwives. Midwives play a role in improving sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health.
To show our appreciation for midwives and them supporting home birth, we organised some giveaways for the NZCOM Wellington region celebration dinner.

2019, October - Home Birth Awareness Week
Currently in the planning stages still. We are in the process of making Ipu Whenua to give away throughout October, to those having home births. These will have some items for mum and baby inside like those given away on midwives day. How many we can make will be determined by funds available and donations, each cost approx $20. We are also looking into planning a whenua burial ceremony.
2019, May 5th - International Day of the Midwife
Very fitting theme for 2019. We appreciate midwives supporting our right to chose our place of birth, so we are happy to show our thanks with some giveaways at the event organised by the Wellington region of NZCOM, held at Te Awakairangi birth centre.
